- Engraulicypris congicus Nichols & Griscom, 1917: 703, fig. 17. Type locality: "Poko, Likati River", Zaïre River system. Holotype AMNH n° 6294.
- Engraulicypris luluae Fowler, 1930: 39, fig. 9. Type locality: "Lulua River, tributary of the Kasai River, Belgian Congo". Holotype ANSP n° 51.741; paratype ANSP n° 51.742 (closely related if not synonymous with E. congicus).
