  • Current distribution known : N. abyssinicus is known only from the holotype, collected together with any other small fishes by poisoning. According to the collector's fieldnotes, deposited in the BMNH, the site poisoned was "a lagoon formed by one of the arms of the Abbai at its affluence from the lake", with strong current and a substrate of rock and stone. Dr. K. Banister kindly provided a copy of the fieldnotes relating to this collection .
