  • Current distribution known : this species complex is widely distributed in central, southern and east Africa, including the Congo River, and the rivers associated with Lakes Victoria, Kivu, Tanganyika, Rukwa and Malawi. It is also found in the Upper Zambezi and Okavango systems .
  • Food habits : feeds on the aquatic insects like dragonfly and mayfly nymphs, the laevae of caddis flies and midges, as well as other small invertebrates (Marshall, 2011) .
  • Habitat : lives amongst rocks in fast-flowing streams, and main river channels of large rivers where there are suitable rocky habitats (Marshall, 2011) .
