Current distribution known :
known only from three localities from high altitude tributaries of the Orange River system in Lesotho. These tributaries are the Tsoelikana, Moremoholo and Senqu Rivers. Type locality given as Umkomazana River in Natal. Generally in clear rocky mountain streams, preferably towards the head of pools with good rocky cover
