  • Current distribution known : known from the Lake Victoria basin in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It has been observed in Lake Victoria and its affluents such as the Kagera, Sondu and Nzoia Rivers, in Lake Kyoga and in the Victoria Nile; also reported from the Malagarazi River basin in Tanzania and from the upper reaches of this river in Burundi .

  • Food habits : feeds on gastropod molluscs and insects (mainly chironomid larvae), and to a minor extent on fishes and ostracoda; able to extract the flesh of snails without crushing their shells .
